Our Story
I’ve loved to cook for as long as I can remember. Being the kid of parents who both worked outside the home, I learned to cook for my family at an early age and I was committed to make meals beyond unhealthy, processed foods. I was probably the only kid at school who said “YES, please” to vegetables.
That early start led to a lifetime love of cooking and hosting dinner parties at home and as a professional private chef for Steve Martin for 30 years, who, by the way is a fan of our marmalade. I think it’s what food does for everyone – a way to share good times (and bad), connect with family, friends, and strangers. Food represents home to me, and I feel honored and proud that providing meals for others gives them a sense of home as well.
Like many people during the pandemic, I wanted something positive to do with my time, and so I did a deep dive with marmalade. I began with Seville Oranges but quickly branched out to other citrus varieties. To my amazement, I discovered so many flavors and ranges that these fruits have from one another. There really are so many directions you can go with marmalade, and I did!
After sharing some early batches with friends and family I realized that I might be onto something special. I was fortunate to get a lot of praise and requests for more jars. This is where Marge Jars was born.
I make each batch myself with great attention to detail, ensuring that quality control is personal and that every Marge Jar is good enough for my own mom. It’s not marmalade, it’s MOMalade.
I hope you enjoy it as much as she does.
